Becoming a Friend offers many benefits, while helping to protect, preserve and promote Jemez & Coronado Historic Sites
Become a Friend.
The Friends Group has been helping to preserve and promote
the Coronado Historic Site for over 20 years, and the Jemez
Historic Site for the past five years. We provide nearly 6,000
hours of volunteer time, valued at nearly $155,000 annually,
to raise funds and support the Sites.

We each bring to the table our unique life experiences,
professional skills and personal desires to share and preserve
the historic sites for future generations. We share the
common sentiment that the Sites are a key part of
New Mexico's history, worth protecting.

The Friends Group is ripe with opportunities to make an
impact, whether that means becoming a docent
(teacher/lecturer) to explain our history; to run the Coronado
and Jemez gift shops and meet visitors from all around the
world; to impact change through our legislative contacts; plan events; help with
archaeological digs; to help preserve, clean, and restore our Sites; or to serve on the board as decision makers. Meet our Board President, and feel free to reach out to our current board members to hear about what it's like being a Friends member.
There are many ongoing volunteer opportunities that will make a huge impact for the Sites. Visit our Calendar for upcoming events at both Jemez and Coronado Historic Sites.

FREE ADMISSION
All members receive free admission to both Coronado and Jemez Historic Sites during regular open hours. For those volunteering during special events such as Fiesta of Cultures, Star Parties or Lights of Gisewa, admission is waived.
Everyone loves to save a little, and Friends members are working constantly to build new business and community partnerships where savings will be passed onto you. In addition to free admission to the Sites, you'll receive a key card to take advantage of the many perks of being a Friend.
PARTNER DISCOUNTS
Friends members will hear about upcoming events anyone else through a monthly newsletter and special updates. For events that tend to sell out, such as star parties, Lights of Gisewa, and special guest speakers, you'll be sure to receive updates before everyone else as a Friend. We've got your back!
NEWS & UPDATES
Friends often get together for members-only outings such as behind the scenes visits to cultural museums, hikes to places like Chaco Canyon, hands on workshops and access to the Sites, pending approval from the Dept. of Cultural Affairs, for private events.
MEMBERS ONLY
EVENTS
Members are tapped to help with activities like community archaeological digs and planning cultural and arts events at the Sites. Plus, those interested in leading educational workshops and talks have an opportunity to become docents, lead tours, and put their skills to use doing everything from grant writing to school outreach to gardening.
