THE FRIENDS UPCOMING
ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

FALL 2025

The Friends activities and events can be for members only or for public enjoyment.  Members-only events include field day trips to special NM locations and a themed 3 to 5-day excursion to one or more NM historic locations each year.  Events offered to the general public include our monthly lectures at the Bernalillo Library and The Fiesta of Cultures which is celebrated each year during the month of October.

Field Trip to Bosque del Apache
MEMBERS ONLY - 20 allowed

SAVE THE DATE: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2025

More information will be coming soon!

Pat Harris, Coordinator of Special Interests is in the planning stage for this exciting Field Trip. This trip immediately follows Coronado Ranger Joseph Tackes lecture program about Sandhill Cranes on October 26th at the Bernalillo Library.

The cranes arrive at the end of October and the snow geese around the first of November so we should be able to see these special birds. Among the sites to see are the Visitor Center (with interesting videos) and the Desert Arboretum. Scenic drives include the North Loop and South Loop where the birds can be observed. The ideal time to see them is at dawn and dusk, but this is a day trip that has more civilized hours.  In addition, there may be Javelinas, mule deer, and wild turkeys roaming the grounds.

ARCHIVED FRIENDS EVENTS

Over the years, The Friends have offered lectures on a variety of subjects.  These lectures benefit from our access to local resources, such as Mary Weahkee who showed us how to make turkey feather blankets, and also from a variety of experts in Pueblo History, Archeology, and Pueblo Architecture.

Lectures that have been recorded are posted on our YouTube channel, where they can be viewed at your convenience. To view Archived Friends Lectures:  CLICK HERE.
